# Use Orbit AI on desktop and mobile devices

> Access Orbit AI via browser, PWA, Electron desktop, and Capacitor mobile apps. Learn how updates, Pro Pulsar, and sidebar preferences work across platforms.

Orbit AI is available in the browser as a progressive web app, as a native-like desktop application, and on mobile devices. Platform-specific features and update behavior vary by build.

## Browser and PWA

The primary way to use Orbit AI is through a modern web browser at [https://www.app.orbitdev.org](https://www.app.orbitdev.org). You can also install it as a progressive web app for a standalone experience. Browser support and exact offline behavior may vary.

## Desktop application

Orbit AI provides an Electron desktop build with the following distribution options:

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="Windows" icon="computer">
    Available as a portable build and an installer. The installer is the primary distribution target for Windows.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Linux" icon="terminal">
    Available as an AppImage and a `.deb` package.
  </Card>
</CardGroup>

### Updates

The desktop app can check for updates, download them, and install them from within the app. Update availability depends on the release feed and your current version.

### Privileged desktop actions

The desktop app can expose selected operating-system actions through a preload bridge, such as opening destinations, working with local paths, speech, or updates. Read the confirmation prompt and verify the target before allowing an action. If an action reports failure, do not assume the file or application was changed.

### Open Pro Pulsar

Pro Pulsar is a desktop feature that requires a paid entitlement or a valid access code. If your account does not have the required entitlement, the app shows a locked message and prompts you to upgrade or redeem a code.

## Mobile application

Orbit AI is built for Android and iOS using Capacitor. Mobile apps are distributed through their respective platform stores. Because the mobile wrapper uses a web view, some features may differ from the desktop or browser experience.

### Mobile permissions

Allow microphone, notification, or file permissions only when you understand why the app needs them. Device capabilities may not match desktop features. A feature shown in the repository is not proof that it is included in a specific official app package.

<Note>
  Feature parity between mobile and desktop is not guaranteed. Some capabilities may be limited or behave differently on mobile depending on platform permissions and screen size.
</Note>

## Sidebar and preferences

Your sidebar collapse or expand preference is stored locally in your browser or device. This means the setting is remembered per device and does not sync across sessions.

## Approving device actions

Before granting a device action, read the requested action and its target. Verify the app, website, folder, filename, or destination is correct. Cancel if the target is unfamiliar. For any generated file, open or inspect the result before distributing it.

## Platform differences

The web app is the quickest way to access Orbit when available. Desktop packaging uses Electron and can expose selected operating-system actions through a preload bridge. Mobile builds use Capacitor and platform projects. These builds may have different permissions and capabilities. If a feature works in the browser but not on desktop or mobile, check that you installed an official, current build and review the platform limitations.

## Troubleshooting

If the desktop app fails to check for updates, keep the app open and retry later. If Pro Pulsar does not open, confirm your account has the required entitlement or a valid access code. On mobile, ensure you have granted any requested permissions for microphone or notifications.
